Fact is, it's not hard nor expensive to make a device with an audio jack waterproof.
Fact 2: Apple owns Beats, one of the biggest if not the biggest headphone manufacturer, with a great line up of Bluetooth headsets.
Fact 3: All those Bluetooth headsets will have to be dumped/replaced in 3 to 4 years due to the batteries being about dead by then. My Sennheiser from the nineties still works great today...
I have no idea why anyone would ever be fan of Apple or a similar big company, but that just goes to show that I am rightfully not employed in a marketing department.

Most customers want to keep the same connector, because they already have chargers and cables, and sometimes even accessories, for it.
USB-C is better in the long run, but that doesn't make it better now.

It'd be trivial to have a 6mm audio port in addition to everything else. It's not about what people want, it's about locking down the HDCP.
